Your student may have told you that Officer McParland has been at Fuller Meadow School. Each year Officer McParland teaches DARE classes to Kindergarten and grade 2 classes. DARE stands for Drug Abuse Resistance Education. The Kindergarten lesson is about Being Safe. The grade 2 lessons are about Personal Safety, Harmful and Helpful Drugs, Learning to Say No in Unsafe Situations, and Dealing with Angry Feelings.
When Officer McParland comes in, he likes to greet the children in the AM. He visits during recess and lunch, and tries to build relationships with children. It is such a great experience having Officer McParland here to work with students. Welcome, Officer McParland!
