This week, we read this book.  It is a great book to teach students about a growth mindset

Did you know that you can stretch and grow your own brain? Or that making mistakes is one of the best ways your brain learns?

Just like how lifting weights helps your muscles get stronger, trying new things without giving up strengthens your brain.

Check out the book here, if you are interested in seeing it!

Tinkering in 1Tx#tinkering #fullermeadow #kidsdeserveit #betheone #ttuchat #tinkeringislearning @missteixeiraFM

Check out these tinkerers from Miss Teixeira’s first grade!  They were using legos, 3-D shapes, connecting cubes and pattern blocks to explore and tinker today!  Parents, please check out this article, which explains why it is so important for our young children to tinker! A quote from the article, that I find so important “Tinkering’s value is most evident when kids follow their curiosity to construct something new.  Having kids see their work and watch their skills grow over time boosts confidence and competence,” Wilkinson says. Other benefits include: heightened creativity, longer attention spans, stronger problem-solving skills, and an increased ability to persist through frustration.

Superhero day! #childhoodcancerawarenessmonth #fullermeadow #ttuchat #kidsdeserveit #betheone

Today, we celebrated Superhero Day at Fuller Meadow.  Staff and students dressed up as their favorite superhero and it was so fun to see all of the different heroes walking through the halls today!  September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.  Thank you for helping Fuller Meadow students support the research that is needed to end Childhood Cancer, for Lola, and every other child and family who is affected by cancer.

Join us for the TTU Parent University! #ttuchat

We are very excited to be able to announce the first of what we hope will become an annual event for parents in Boxford, Middleton, and Topsfield.

The TTU Parent University is an opportunity for parents and guardians in Boxford, Topsfield, and Middleton to come together and learn ways to support their children in their educational journey. Parent University is designed to support parents and families across a variety of relevant topics including understanding the methods and practices of school curricula, exploring best supports for social-emotional learning, navigating digital citizenship, and prioritizing parent wellness as a critical component. The conference is designed into a series of engaging presentations and discussions that will provide insight and perspective on topics ranging from academics, character education, and preparing students for the journey ahead, including middle school, high school, and the world beyond. This year’s event will be highlighted by keynote speaker, Dr. Bill Daggett, who will enlighten parents to the fourth industrial revolution and the role of relationships, rigor and relevance in the school setting. We see this as a unique way to partner with parents to enrich themselves and to help their children thrive.

Meet Grant from #boosterthon #middletonpto #fullermeadow #kidsdeserveit #betheone

The Boosterthon Fun Run is coming!  Grant came to our staff meeting today and kicked off what is going to be a very fun event for our entire school community as well as a fundraiser for our PTO, which greatly and entirely benefits our schools!  Grant Goodenough is our Program Director, however, our children will get to know Vibrant Viva very well, as she will be housed at Fuller Meadow for a week talking to the students about the fun run.  Keep your eyes and ear open for more information about the MPS fun run coming to both Fuller Meadow and Howe-Manning in October!

What do #FullerMeadow teachers do at staff meetings? #kidsdeserveit #betheone #ttuchat

We all know how hard our Fuller Meadow teachers work each day with students.  This afternoon was no different…hard work, perseverance, collaboration, problem-solving, making mistakes and learning from them, and most of all…FUN!

Today during our staff meeting, the teachers and staff worked with Lego Education Kits called WeDo 2.0.  The teachers had to build a motorized vehicle names Milo, using directions.  Once Milo was built, the teachers had to code him to make him move.  Thank you to Ms. Clemenzi and Mrs. Baker for facilitating this fun learning experience for the teachers and for Mrs. Bettencourt for helping out.  It was a great afternoon of learning for all of us!

Our first Team Time. #fullermeadow #betheone #kidsdeserveit #bucketfilling #fillingbuckets

This was our first week of Team Time, and as you may remember, it is always a highlight of my week to begin the day with my students.  We read the book, Bucketfilling from A-Z:  The Key to Being Happy today.  This book uses the letters of the alphabet to help our children see the many, simple ways that they can fill buckets and fill their own buckets in return. When you help children become bucket fillers, you give them the key to happiness…for it is in friendship, love, and good will to others that we are truly happy. Bucket filling is the moment by moment choice to be kind and caring. Teaching and encouraging children to be bucket fillers is one of the greatest gifts you can give to them.  Fuller Meadow is a bucket filling school!

Ask your student about Team Time!
